We seek an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer with structural steel design who holds an active Florida Professional Engineer (PE) License to join our team in the Orlando area.
The Civil/Structural Engineer will plan and design fall protection systems and ensure compliance with all applicable local, design, and fall protection codes and standards. The engineer will provide technical advice, consulting on projects, and system installations at customer job sites.
The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience as a Civil/Structural Engineer with structural steel design expertise, detail-oriented, and exceptional problem-solving skills. The individual will have excellent project management skills and the successful execution of project deliverables: excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in both team and customer environments. What You Should Bring:
- 10+ years of civil/structural engineering experience with structural steel design
- Active Florida Professional Engineer License
- Competence in the use of the AISC specifications for steel structures
- Competence in the use of the AISI specifications for cold-formed steel
- Competence in the use of the ACI-318 specifications for reinforced concrete
- Experience in reading geotechnical reports and designing foundations
- Familiarity with AWS D1.1, D1.2, and D1.6 Standards and Specifications
- Knowledge and use of structural design and analysis software tools
- Proficiency in AutoCad
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; a high level of accuracy in calculations and design.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines
What You Will Do:
- Lead projects and ensure the timely and successful execution of project deliverables.
- Deliver superior service in a fast pace environment that meets or exceeds expectations.
- Design and engineer systems; consult on projects and system installations at customer job sites.
- Prepare calculations, drawings, and specifications for the design of fall protection systems.
- Ensure project specs and systems comply with all applicable local, design, and fall protection codes and standards.
- Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
- Work with sales, project managers, supply chain, quality assurance, and fabrication to ensure that the designs are optimized to provide the best solution available.
- Apply PE stamp or seal to reports, plans, drawings, and calculations to meet state engineering laws and rules.
- Be expected to access locations at height, climb ladders/scaffolding, use personal fall protection systems, documenting structural systems in existing industrial/commercial/institutional facilities.
- Provide direction and feedback to less experienced staff and engineering technicians on projects.
Education and Licensure Requirements:
- B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering/Structural (ABET Accredited) – Civil, Mechanical, Structural
- Active Florida Professional Engineer License
