Director of Marketing and Communications – The Bair Foundation – Pennsylvania

The Bair Foundation Child & Family Ministries is looking for a visionary marketing professional who serves in a key leadership role for our ministry. We are in search of a Director of Marketing and Communications.

The Bair Foundation is a leading treatment foster care agency that was founded in 1967 and has been nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation since 2002. We are seeking individuals who have a passion for working with at-risk youth and families. This position is responsible for developing and implementing the long-term marketing and communication vision for The Bair Foundation. Responsibilities include planning, development, and implementation of all The Bair Foundation marketing strategies, both external and internal. Oversees development and implementation of support materials and services. Directs the efforts of the marketing and communications staff and coordinates at the strategic and tactical levels with the other functions of The Bair Foundation.

Essential Functions:

  • Promotes the mission, vision and identity of The Bair Foundation.
  • Creates, implements, and measures the success of a comprehensive marketing and communications program that will enhance The Bair Foundation’s image and position within the marketplace and the general public, and facilitate internal and external communications.
  • Prioritize various requests for marketing services according to their long-run impact, cost-saving potential, time requirements, ease of accomplishment, and cost of urgency.
  • Prepares a budget request to support the anticipated plan and maintains budget. Continually evaluates effectiveness of advertising and implements changes in spending as needed. Negotiates all advertising contracts.
  • Works with media entities in order to implement marketing plan. Oversees marketing staff who negotiate and purchase advertising and make personal appearances on live and recorded broadcasts. Ensures no gaps in advertising and negotiates contracts a minimum of 30 days prior to expiration.
  • Reviews and analyzes monthly reports on the accomplishments of the department.
  • Works together with the Executive Director in developing the annual National Foster Parent Recruitment Plan, and is responsible for monitoring progress, and motivating offices to reach their goals. Reviews marketing report with State/Regional Directors monthly and reports to the Executive Director at the monthly marketing meetings.
  • Writes all printed materials, ads, brochures, website, and press releases including monthly “Talk to Me” newsletter for staff.
  • This position is directly tied to the Foster Parent recruitment as allowable through Title IV-E funding. Responsibilities include recruitment, growth, and development of Foster Parents.
  • Helps train The Bair Foundation Foster Parent Recruiters and Intake Coordinators for each office nationally.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Advertising, or Public Relations preferred. Graduate degree in a related field is desirable.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in marketing, communications or public relations with demonstrated success, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Prior experience in social work, specifically in child placement preferred.
  • A portfolio of prior work my be requested.
