We are looking to add the following to our team:

Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Ladera Homes is currently hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to assist developmentally disabled individuals with daily living needs in a home residential setting. Under direct supervision of highly qualified professionals, DSPs monitor and support our clients’ needs, both physically and emotionally. DSPs have the unique opportunity to build a rewarding career in healthcare and develop caring relationships with our clients.

Responsibilities:

•Attend to the needs of each resident, including assisting them with grooming, bathing, hygiene, toileting, feeding and communicating with other individual need they may have.

*Routing disinfection and sanitation of common living areas.

*Support the needs and goals of each resident such as taking them to medical appointments, participating in leisure activities, and encouraging them to socialize with peers.

*Administer medications to individual(s) and follow the five rights for verification purposes.

*Provide supervision and training during community and recreational outings.

*Monitor physical and emotional wellness of residences and immediately report changes in status.

*Prepare meals and store food in compliance with all regulations and program outline.

*Assist with maintenance and sanitation of the home and surroundings.

*Record data and maintain files regarding resident’s health, progress, and special incidents, as outlined in Title 17, Title 22, and the house of joy program design,

*Assist in maintenance of administrative records, resident files, home inventories, and weekly schedules as needed.

*Advocate on behalf of the resident: uphold respectful and efficient communication with residents and all relevances parties. Understand organizations and support systems relating to resident’s life.

*Maintain a safe environment for the residents by cleaning the home, informing the Administrator about any broken/inoperable items, locking up medicines and chemicals and reporting any problems that can cause injuries.

*Dress according to dress code and safety purposes.

*Attend all required trainings and staff meetings,

*Follow directions from Home administrator or lead staff.

*Follow response procedures for all home emergencies, (medical, natural disaster, fire, and behavioral incidents).

*Report any incidents or evidence of abouse or violation of residents right to Administrator and appropriate agencies

*Excellent communication skills: Respectful and positive attitude toward residents, co-workers, contractors and home visitors,

*Must have a minimum of six months experience providing direct supervision or special services for persons with Developmental Disabilities or completed 12 additional CEU units with the first 6 month hire.

*Complete required staff training and minimum of 12 hours continuing education annually.

*Complete orientation and on the job train within the first month of employment,

*Work weekend, holiday, and overnight shifts as required.

*Must have current CPI certified or obtain certification within 45 days of employment. Cannot be left along with client if do not have CPI certified. Must have at lease 1 CPI trained DSP on duty.

*Complete DSP1 training or test for and pass DSP1 Certified within first 180 days of employment.

*Complete DSP2 training or test for and pass DSP2 certification with first 270 days of employment.

*Able to meet Title 22 requirements, including but not limited to:

* Minimum age 21

*High school diploma or GED

*Health screen and TB clearance

*Fingerprinting and clear criminal record

*CPR and first aid training.

*Valid California ID or driver’s License

*Clean driving record (must be 21 years of age to drive for the home.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay $15.00 to $16:00 per hours

REQUIREMENTS:

*Two forms of ID such as Driver’s License, State ID, Passport, or Social Security Card

*TB Test within the last two years (or chest X-Ray within the last 5 years)

*Valid CPR/First Aid Card (Resources available if not CPR/First Aid certified)

*Two professional References
