In 2005, Sunrise Children’s Hospital completed a $75 million renovation and expansion effort, which is the last time the facility added to its capacity. Currently, the two hospitals have 690 beds. When the project is complete, the capacity will grow to 762 beds.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Charge Nurse is responsible for the provision of patient care delivered on a nursing unit. The Charge Nurse is accountable for and has the authority to make decisions to promote quality patient care on their nursing unit. The Charge Nurse is expected to apply hospital policies and procedures, as well as Standards of Care in the provision and supervision of patient care using the nursing process.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Basic computer and hospital informatics skills required.

Specialty Certification where required; example: Chemotherapy; ACLS; PALS.

CPR required.

Complies with hospital employee health, infection control and safety management programs


EXPERIENCE:

Current acute clinical care experience preferred; Minimum of 6 months to 1 year experience required


LICENSURE:

Current Nevada license to practice Nursing. Independently maintains license. Acquires required contact hours to maintain practice


AGE SPECIFIC DATA:

Maintains current knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and demonstrates the ability to incorporate knowledge into nursing process.
