Bookkeeper (Long Island City, NY)

The Floating Hospital, a non-profit healthcare provider that has been providing services for over 150 years, is seeking a full-time, full charge Bookkeeper to work with Finance staff on the accounting needs of the Department. The successful candidate will possess a full knowledge of all bookkeeping and accounting processes including A/R, A/P, G/L, trial balance, financial statements, and analytical reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include:

• Record journal entries as appropriate
• Prepare monthly/quarterly/periodic balance sheet, income statement, and consolidated financial statements
• Post payments to the proper accounts
• Have a working knowledge of the A/P cycle and be able to generate and approve check requests, post invoice information to FundEZ, and generate checks
• Perform general banking functions in conjunction with bank representatives
• Generate a trial balance to ensure G/L accounts are in balance and make necessary adjustments
• Perform bank reconciliations
• Maintain grant revenue and expenses on a monthly basis
• Prepare for and assist with audits
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

Commensurate experience with High School Diploma or College graduate (Bachelor’s preferred) with a degree in business or accounting; must possess excellent communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with vendors, staff, and all levels of management; expert knowledge of Fund EZ accounting software required; must be well organized with attention to detail; expert proficiency with the use of all Microsoft applications, specifically Excel, preferred. Must have 3-5 years of experience as a full charge bookkeeper.
