SUD Counselor/ Case Manager

Counselor in a substance abuse program designed for the prevention of substance abuse and the treatment of rehabilitation patients and mental health residents with substance abuse problems. This position reports directly to Clinical Supervisor.

Examples of Duties:

• Conducts intake interviews to obtain personal and family data, including a study of individuals or family based on medical, psychological, social or environmental needs.
• Develop and implement treatment plans. Monitor and chart resident’s progress and implement modifications to the resident’s program as needed.
• Perform drug and alcohol abuse lectures as well as individual and group counseling.
• Is responsible for scheduling program activities, individual and group meetings.
• Counsel patients/residents to prevent relapse by assisting them in recognizing causal factors of substance abuse and in develop appropriate coping behavior.
• Counsel patients/residents on and services available for treatment and to help combat relapses.
• Participate in educational activities in both formal academic and treatment settings and rehabilitation centers to improve knowledge of substance abuse and related areas.

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in the field of alcohol and drug treatment
• Must have previous experience in individual and group counseling services
• Must have completed a certificate program specializing in addiction studies
• Must be certified with a state of California counselor certifying organization
• If recovering from substance abuse, candidate must have two years of continuous sobriety and knowledge of self-help groups (AA, NA, CA) community resources and charting resident files.

A valid California Class C. Driver’s License and must meet requirements to be insured under the company’s insurance policy.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Salary: $16.00 to $22.00 /hour

Experience:

• Counseling in SUD: 2 years (Preferred)
• Case Management: 1 year (Preferred)

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)
