Responsibilities

The Certified Nursing Assistant is a support provider who functions under the direct supervision of the registered professional nurse. The C.N.A.’s primary focus will be to promote a positive patient experience by partnering with the patient, family and other health care providers to provide excellence in customer service and assistance with activities of daily living, nutrition, hygiene, socialization , light housekeeping ( if in the patient’s home) and comfort measures. The C.N.A. assists other health care providers with safe, age appropriate and culturally aware care by performing basic patient care functions i.e. bathing, toileting, ambulation, vital signs, skin care, feeding, and other technical procedures for which they are credentialed. The C.N.A. will ensure that the proper supplies are stocked in the patient’s environment. Must be able to work in multiple environments as assigned (the in-patient unit, patient’s personal home, ALF, SNF, PCH) and with a variety of care providers, modeling excellent hospice care and emotional support. Must be comfortable with caring for terminally ill patients and performing postmortem care after the death. May be exposed to pets and cigarette smoke (in the patients home). Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills, and be able to enter documentation on the computer. Must maintain reliable transportation.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Education Must be a high school graduate or have a GED, be a graduate from an accredited training program for nursing assistants that offers no less than 75 hours of classroom and practical training, supervised by a registered RN.

Required Minimum Licensure/Certification Must have a current registration with the State of Georgia as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Required Minimum Experience Must have two years consecutive experience following the completion of training.
