Senior Product Manager – Platform Products – WuXi NextCODE – Cambridge, MA

The Senior Product Manager will set and lead the vision for one or more of our genomic platform products. In this role, it is essential to develop a comprehensive understanding of the products value proposition and technology, develop deep insights into the market for the product, be the voice of the user, ensure the product maximizes business value across its life cycle, act as an evangelist across the company to support the product vision and build and execute against actionable plans to realize that vision. The Senior Product Manager owns the success of the product.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Product management of a new product for genomic data management and analysis
  • Product management of secondary analysis and data processing workflows and services
  • Evaluation of new technologies at R&D stage of development
  • Provide a supporting function in productizing additional early-stage platform products

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead product teams across the entire product life-cycle, from gathering market insights through launch
  • Develop the vision for the product and build actionable strategic plans and detailed roadmaps for development, delivery and continuous improvement of the product. Inspire all other stakeholders in the company to support and drive towards the product vision.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams to identify and implement strategic action plans, business models, go-to-market strategy, detailed roadmaps and success metrics and work closely with project, program managers and engineering leaders to set goals and timelines, assign actions, track budgets and undertake project planning.
  • The candidate must be able to work hand-in-hand with the engineering/software development team to pro-actively remove obstacles and solve problems
  • The candidate must be comfortable with getting deeply engaged with software development at all levels, including a deep understanding of programming/coding, debugging and architecture
  • Drive backlog grooming, planning and vision refinement sessions with business and engineering teams.
  • Create pricing strategy, license models, go to market, and product launch plan
  • Create product marketing collateral, including technical white papers, sales collateral and other
  • Lead regular partner program meetings; track status and provide updates
  • Manage in-licenses and negotiations with vendors
  • Gather customer feedback for data and technology enhancements; work with internal teams for implementation
  • Provide leadership, management, and mentorship to the product team
  • Manage roadmap and requirements for genomic data analytics solutions for structured and unstructured data
  • Understand key stakeholder needs and design systems to achieve goals
  • Responsible for team execution and delivering on stated milestones

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Masters degree in engineering, bioinformatics, data science, computer science, or similar relevant technical background is required. Ph.D. and/or MBA are preferred.
  • 6+ years of product experience with significant big data analytics and data management background
  • 3+ years specific product management and/or software development experience with distributed big data technologies such as Spark or Hadoop or similar
  • Significant hands-on software development experience with Spark
  • Significant experience developing software products on AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure
  • Experience using analytics data warehouse solutions such as Google BigQuery
  • Experience building products that deliver batch and real-time data solutions at scale exceeding hundreds of millions of sessions and tens of TB per day
  • Significant experience with next generation sequencing and sequence data processing workflows, especially secondary analysis workflows and best practices
  • Significant understanding of and experience working with genomic data types, such as FASTQ, BAM and VCF, and toolkits such as GATK and PLINK.
  • Familiarity with medical data security and privacy compliance standards and best practices
  • Extensive knowledge of bioinformatics and software engineering. Experience or familiarity with medical or genetic sciences strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a track record of delivering exceptional results as well as excellent cross-functional and cross-cultural communication abilities
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with agile software development methodologies
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time, including internationally
