FT Surgery Center RN – Fairbanks Urology – Fairbanks, AK

Busy urology practice is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic RN to join our dynamic surgery center team in Fairbanks, AK. We are currently looking for a full-time RN with the flexibility to perform Pre-Op, PACU, and Circulating RN responsibilities; as well as to assume some of the daily operational tasks.

OUR PERFECT MATCH:

  • holds an active, unrestricted nursing license in the state of Alaska
  • is a graduate of an accredited nursing program, having earned an associate’s degree in nursing or higher. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • has a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • has a current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • has prior pre-operative, surgical, and/or PACU nursing experience
  • has general, clinical competency in surgical patient care
  • prepares the operating room according to the procedure being performed and the patients’ needs
  • anticipates the needs of the surgical team and assists the anesthesia staff by supporting the patient during anesthesia administration
  • assists with the proper and safe positioning of the patient and prepares the operative site as directed by established procedure
  • assists with supply ordering and inventory management
  • completes required data collection to meet state regulations
  • initiates IV’s, administers medications, and ensures patient comfort
  • can assess, instruct, and prepare patients prior to surgery and prior to discharge
  • monitors patients’ vital signs and other measurements of progress to meet discharge criteria
  • has the ability to act quickly and safely in the event of an emergency
  • demonstrates an aptitude for maintaining pace of abbreviated patient encounters, keeping patient flow to a minimum peri-operative stay
  • exhibits specialized knowledge, skill, and abilities in the fundamentals of peri-operative nursing
  • has the ability to clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instrumentation according to ANSI, AAMI, and APIC standards
  • shows a strong respect for other co-workers
  • demonstrates willingness to abide by the practice’s protocols, as well as state and federal regulations
  • projects a positive and professional image
  • additional responsibilities as required
