TITLE: Clinical Support Partner – Pharmacy Technician I (Inpatient)
JOB OVERVIEW:
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for supporting the pharmacists in their duties by providing technical assistance in accordance with department policy and Washington State Law. He/she maintains close working communication with pharmacists and pharmacy coordinators and manager regarding the various department programs. He/she facilitates departmental and hospital programs being carried out in accordance with regulatory agency requirements.

AREA OF ASSIGNMENT: Hospital Pharmacy
HOURS OF WORK: Variable to accommodate pharmacy needs
RESPONSIBLE TO: Pharmacy Operations Manager
PREREQUISITES;
QUALIFICATIONS:

Hospital experience with I.V. admixture, unit dose, automated dispensing cabinets, and computers preferred.

Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion, with good public relations and proper patient management skills, and the ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships with fellow employees.

Ability to work with Microsoft Office programs, Epic, Pyxis, and other pharmacy computer systems. Requires frequent use of data entry keying into the computer.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

B. Unique Job Functions:

Responsible for the provision of technical support of drug distribution services for all hospital patients and selected outpatients.

Preparation of parenteral medications and solutions including hazardous drugs.

Fill medication floor stocks, intravenous solutions, and other medications by restocking Pyxis machines.
-
Completes assigned competency assessments.
-
Completes unit and pharmacy-area inspections, including removing outdated medications from inventory and ensuring security of medication storage areas.
-
Responsible for maintaining basic knowledge of current medications.
-
Responsible for deliveries of medications throughout the hospital and outlying areas.
-
Responsible for ensuing medications, intravenous solutions, and supplies are restocked and rotated by the end of each shift in the areas worked.

Provides assistance to nurses and other patient care staff on issues regarding pharmacy services.

Completes additional responsibilities/projects when assigned by manager, coordinators, or pharmacists.
