JOB DESCRIPTION

ER/OP & PT ADMITTING CLERKS

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

1. Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.

2. Experience in computers that includes Microsoft Word.

3. Must have excellent organizational and communication skills.

4. Must have the ability to apply principles of logical thinking, to be able to collect and compute accurate information for billing purposes.

5. Must work calmly and efficiently under pressure, handling demands from multiple sources professionally and courteously.

6. Exemplifies a team concept. Exhibits tact and understanding in all interpersonal relations.

7. Demonstrates the ability to work independently.

8. Must be able to answer phones promptly, efficiently and in a courteous manner.

ADMIT CLERK DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

a. Obtains accurate and complete patient demographics.

b. Runs face sheets on all patients.

c. Consistently obtains necessary signatures and consents.

d. Complies with all local, state and federal regulations.

e. Maintains confidentiality of all patient information.

g. Pulls charts from Health Information Management and obtains charts from

Cedar Hills Clinic as needed.

h. Contributes to and participates in departmental meetings.

I. Knows, practices and supports the mission and values of the department and facility

j. Completes all other duties as assigned by supervisor or Administrator.

CUSTOMER SERVICE STANDARDS

a. Greets every employee and customer with a warm and friendly smile.

b. Introduces self immediately when working with customers.

c. Helps create a positive and inviting environment when interacting with customers and visitors.

d. Demonstrates effective listening skills when interacting with customers and colleagues.

e. Meets internal and external customer requests by either completing the task or seeking the appropriate assistance of others.

g. Adhere to organizational and departmental policies regarding attendance

(i.e., arrives at work area on time, in proper attire and ready for duty.)

CORPORATE COMPLIANCE/HIPAA

a. Adheres to the Corporate Compliance Program/HIPAA regulations.

b. Demonstrates knowledge and use of the Privacy Standard by complying with the

“need to know” statement.

c. Exchanges information in non-public areas only.

d. Consistently receives signed receipt of the current Notice of Privacy Practices if patient does not already have one on file.

e. Consistently offers all patients a current copy of the Notices of Privacy Practices.
