Strategies To Empower People (S.T.E.P.) is a private agency that supports adults with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities providing Supported Living, Independent Living, Day Program, and Community Placement services.
POSITION
S.T.E.P. is seeking a full-time Direct Support Professionals to provide supported living services to individuals requiring a high level of behavioral supports in the Fairfield area.
CANDIDATE MUST HAVE VERIFIABLE EXPERIENCE IN SUPPORTING INDIVIDUALS THAT COMMUNICATE WITH CHALLENGING BEHAVIORS.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
-Provide direct care, supervision, and behavioral supports to the individual in accordance with their IBSP. IPP, Program design, and training using a person-centered approach.
-Assist with assessment, behavioral intervention, and planning for individual.
-Understand and carry out the individual’s IBSP and IPP goals, plans, and methods for reaching those goals.
-Assist with physician ordered care including medications, special diets, and other physical needs.
-Work with other staff, consultants, regional center representatives, and others to provide all necessary services to the individual.
-Some report writing may be required as needed.

REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Graduate or Certificate of High School Equivalency (GED) is required.
Experience: At least six months of experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities who have challenging behavioral needs.
-Certification of DSP I, DSP II, and/or RBT certification preferred upon hire, but not required.
Skills and Abilities: Maturity and ability to maintain a professional appearance and work professionally with a variety of personalities and situations at all times. Must have the ability to communicate well in English both verbally and in writing. Possess basic mathematical skills in order to assist residents with medications, shopping, cooking, and managing money.
Physical Requirements: Must be in good physical health as verified by a health screen and a test for tuberculosis (TB), performed under the supervision of a physician (to be performed after hire).
Other Requirements:
- -Covid-19 Vaccination Required for all New Hires.
- -Have a valid California Driver License and acceptable DMV driving record, and the ability to drive your own vehicle for work. Willing to participate in our DMV Pull Program.
- -Required to obtain and maintain annually CPR/First Aid certification, Pro-ACT certification, and successfully complete a minimum of 120 hours of agency and position-required education and training annually.

HOURS AND COMPENSATION
Hours: Our homes operate on awake shifts 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, INCLUDING HOLIDAYS. Schedules will vary depending on the needs of the individual.
Compensation: $18.50-$19.00/hour. $20/hr weekend Mileage reimbursement at $0.58 per mile.
