Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Sleep Medicine – American Sleep Medicine – Rockville, MD

Job Description

Flexible work schedule. Full time or part time available. Minimal travel between two locations (Baltimore and Rockville). Local physician looking for a Nurse Practitioner to diagnose and treat sleep disorders, as well as promote good health practices. The Nurse Practitioner provides direct patient care for sleep medicine patients in collaboration with a supervising physician to deliver competent medical care. This candidate will develop and implement patient management plans, order diagnostic testing, record progress notes, assists in provision of continuity of care and instruct and counsel patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens and health maintenance. You’ll be both a health practitioner and an educator, supporting disease prevention practices and helping people lead healthy lives. Will train the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and evaluates patient data, sleep test findings (to diagnose nature or extent of sleep disorder) and to assesses treatments
  • Initiates referrals for further sleep testing and other specialist consultations, including psychological testing for insomnia as needed
  • Collaborates with physician to discuss treatment plans
  • Communicates clearly and accurately with clients, visitors, and colleagues: displaying friendly, helpful behavior
  • Uses judgment and tact, particularly when communicating sensitive information
  • Displays sensitivity to the needs of clients, visitors and colleagues, treating everyone with consideration, courtesy and respect
  • Assists in the education of patients and family members
  • Provides pharmacologic consultation and intervention, including prescription of medications related to sleep
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of prescribed medication while considering potential negative side effects
  • Completes all documentation regarding all assessments in a timely and competent manner.
  • Knows and adheres to all federal, state, and local statutes and regulatory agency standards

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Maryland
