Out of District Case Manager/Special Educator – Montpelier Roxbury Public Schools – Montpelier, VT

MRPS is searching for an Out of District Case Manager/Special Educator. MRPS is continually growing its system of proficiency-based learning, personalization, and effective multi-tiered system of support so that all learners reach high levels of achievement. Our next Out of District Case Manager/Special Educator will have the opportunity to work with an experienced staff in reaching our lofty goals for students.

The successful candidate will demonstrate: — Work as part of an interdisciplinary school team to ensure needs of students are met;– Consistent contact with families;– Experience acting as the LEA for IEP meetings;– Experience coordinating State Testing procedures for a school/district;– Develop IEP goals and progress reports that are reflective of a student’s needs;– Have strong written and verbal communication skills;– Demonstrated ability to approach individuals in a creative and thoughtful manner;– A strong understanding of Special Education Case Management as it applies to out of district placements;– A strong understanding and commitment to returning students from out-placement; — A strong understanding of the Special Education Evaluation process;– Expertise in administering Achievement Testing (ie Woodcock Johnson or WISC);– Demonstrated ability to lead IEP team meetings; — Strong working knowledge of Special Education law;– Practitioner of trauma informed practices;– Understanding and experience with Best Interest Determination meetings;– Experience working with multiple outside agencies to coordinate complex service plans;– Work with nurse, SLP, OT, PT, Gen Ed and BCBA to develop and implement IEPs; — Great attention to detail;– Model respect, honesty, consideration, responsibility, and positive attitude with both peers and students;– Experience working with staff to increase the practices of inclusivity; — Participate in staff meetings and in-service training as requested;– The confidence to collaborate with a knowledgeable staff; — Instructional knowledge focused within proficiency-based learning and effective multi-tiered systems of support; — A commitment to equity, inclusivity, and diversity – eliminating the predictability of achievement based on identity status;– Proven relationship-building with students that not only encourages but also enables student voice;– Effective, proactive communication skills with students, parents, and School/District leadership;– An ability to cultivate a positive climate and healthy collaborative culture;– A connection to our communitys values;– All other duties as assigned.Job Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree2 years of teaching or equivalentValid Teaching LicenseSpecial Education EndorsementInterested candidates are asked to apply via SchoolSpring.
