Director of Memory Care- RN- LPN – Bristal Assisted Living – New York, NY

At the present time, we have needs for a caring, dedicated and experienced RN or LPN Nurse Supervisor to head up our Reflections (dedicated Alzheimer’s/Dementia) Memory Care Unit at the newly renovated beautiful and luxurious 305 West End Assisted Living on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

The Director of Reflections/Memory Care Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day management and success of the Reflections Program to include planning, organizing and coordinating the special needs programs for our Reflections (Alzheimer’s/Dementia) Memory Care Unit, providing staff supervision and training as well as acting as a liaison and advocate for the Residents and their families.

Position will require working one weekend day per week for a Sunday-Thursday day shift schedule from 9am-5:30pm

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Ensure the Resident’s care and management needs are adequately and appropriately assessed and acts as the liaison between Residents, the Residents Legal Representatives, their families, administrative staff, and community based service providers
  • Staff motivation and development to include in-service education of the Special Needs Program to Reflections Unit personnel on health/wellness related topics
  • Day to day oversight and operations management of the Reflections Unit to ensure compliance with company and Department of Health (DOH) regulatory rules regarding the Resident admission and discharge procedure as well as appropriate medical case notes and documentation requirements
  • Supervision and scheduling staff and assisting with medications management
  • This is a hands on position requiring occasional participation in assisting Residents with ADLs
  • The appropriate candidate will have a nursing background with the following qualifications and requirements:
  • At least 3 years working intimately with Alzheimer’s/Dementia patients and a minimum 5 years’ experience working with the geriatric population
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing: Licensed Practical Nurse-LPN or Registered Nurse
  • A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in an assisted living, skilled nursing, clinical or similar healthcare related field desirable
  • Experience planning and administering in-service education programs
  • Excellent leadership skills; a mentor that can lead by example
  • Working knowledge of medical and nursing terminology
  • Knowledge of geriatric care needs, supervision and administration
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; possessing the ability to speak clearly and comfortably with Residents, Residents families, physicians, property personnel, and others
  • Exceptional multi-tasking, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability and flexibility to tolerate frequent work interruptions, organize work and re-set priorities in order to complete work responsibilities in a timely manner
  • Proven ability to use discretion in handling confidential information
  • Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress related to working with special needs population
  • Strong computer skills, MS Office
