What about our program you ask? Well…let’s learn a little bit more about Inpatient. Our Inpatient unit is a short term crisis stabilization program for children and adolescents aged 4 to 18. We serve both male and female populations that are in an acute stage of psychiatric illness and are at imminent risk of harm to themselves or others. Treatment is designed to provide intensive monitoring of all patients in a restrictive setting. At the same time, our staff provides support and encouragement to individuals participating in program routines and structure. This is designed to reflect daily routines that would be followed outside the hospital setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE REGISTERED NURSE (RN):

· Provide and coordinate care by assessing physical and behavioral health needs of patient, develop and implement nursing care plans, maintain medical records and educate patients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions.

· Provide nursing care and services within the standards and scope of nursing practice as defined within the state, policies, procedures and protocols,

· Ensure physician’s orders are legible if taken verbally and transcribed appropriately per policy and procedure.

· Ensure patient’s status is assessed on an ongoing basis and pertinent information gathered is documented. Notify physician of significant changes in status

· Nursing treatment plans are specific to assessed needs. Initial treatment plan is completed upon admission.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

· Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.

· Current Registered Nurse (RN) license as required by the state of Pennsylvania

· Previous psych nursing experience highly preferred

· Combination of nursing education and life experience considered.

· Knowledge of group dynamics preferred.

· Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCM) certification must be maintained to include annual refresher.

· CPR certification renewed bi-annually or upon expiration of certification

· Must be knowledgeable of the developmental stages and behaviors for age group of assigned clients

· Maintains competence in identified universal, core and critical competencies.

· Valid Act 34/34 clearances.

· Must meet job competencies within 90 days of hire.
