Patient Specialist Opportunity

We are hiring a Patient Specialist – MA to support our fast paced, busy pain management practice with locations in the Houston, Pasadena, Webster and Texas City areas. The practice offers various treatment options including, therapies, nerve blocks, joint injections and more! This role works out of our corporate office in Webster.

  • Schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Patient Specialist Essential Job Functions

  • Supports Providers and Clinical staff after the patient leaves the clinic.
  • Works with patients to resolve challenges receiving prescribed medications
  • Obtaining Prior Authorizations for prescriptions
  • Updating and/or correcting pharmacy information in EMR after the patient has left clinic, for the patients to receive medications.
  • Creating pre-approved medications in DrFirst/Rcopia for providers signature, expediting patient’s ability to receive medication in a timely manner when appointments are rescheduled, or prescription is sent to the wrong pharmacy.
  • Working closely with pharmacies to ensure patient receives medication
  • Providing excellent, compassionate Personalized Patient Service for patients calling Patient Specialty Department regarding issues related to prescriptions, imaging, procedures, and rescheduled appointments.
  • Patient Specialist uses excellent patient advocate skills to help patient resolve concerns during the initial phone call.
  • Use of active listening skills
  • Ability to defusing heated phone calls by employing strong patient care skills by keeping volume and tone of voice soothing, while acknowledging the patients concerns and level of pain.
  • Filter and Upload documents related to patient calls and prescription to the Clinical application from the providers fax inbox.

Patient Specialist Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in a medical setting (Medical Assistant work experience highly preferred)
  • basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistant practice scope.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic medial health care record systems.
