Job Description:

To assume the responsibilities and accountability of a clinically proficient nurse for promoting and assuring patient centered care to individuals living in their own residence. To minimize the effects of illness and disability through the provision of physician directed services. To integrate professional abilities for the overall planning, delivery, coordination and evaluation of patient care.

Job Requirements:

Education

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, required.
  • Bachelor of Science degree is preferred.

Experience

  • Experience in acute care or home care setting preferred.
  • Adaptability to performing under stress when confronted with emergent, critical, unusual, or dangerous situations, or situation in which working speed and sustained attention are make-or-break aspects of the job, to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure, and to accepting responsibility for the direction, control or planning of an activity.
  • Ability to maintain both a high standard of courtesy and cooperation in dealing with co-workers, patients and visitors and satisfactory job performance despite the stress of unpredictable work environments.
  • Adaptability to dealing with people regarding giving and receiving of instructions, to changing priorities, and to situations requiring precise limits, tolerances or standards.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to interact with the patient population of: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatrics.
  • Ability to perform under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, or unusual situations.
  • Ability to influence people in their opinions, attitudes, or judgments about ideas or things.
  • Ability to make generalizations, evaluations or decisions based on measureable or verifiable criteria: i.e. patient assessment and/or equipment performance.

Certifications/Licensure

  • Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Iowa, required.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. RN License either from the Iowa Board of Nursing or one recognized by the IBN as valid to practice nursing in the State of Iowa.
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support, in accordance with the American Heart Association required within 6 months of hire.
  • Current and valid Iowa Driver’s license, own transportation and automobile insurance.
