Industrial Engineer I


New Bern, NC / Full-time

Must be able to perform specialized Industrial Engineering functions for the respective division’s Manufacturing Engineering department. This position will serve as a key team member responsible for Lean Manufacturing and the implementation of new products to the production floor.


Responsibilities

  • Studies product requirements, designs process/mathematical models to meet those requirements, and implements process changes.

  • Measures work, improves work methods and maintains standards using MTM-1, MTM-USA, Time Study and Work Sampling Study.

  • Meet year on year productivity improvement targets.

  • Actively manages smooth incorporation of engineering changes into production.

  • Designs and establishes standard operating sheets per ISO requirements.

  • Monitors systems regularly using Key Performance Indicators like OEE, Availability, and Utilization.

  • Maintains accurate facility layouts in AutoCAD.

  • Designs, evaluates and improves ergonomics of work stations and processes.

  • Designs, implements and improves material handling systems in support of lean manufacturing principles using analysis techniques (process flow charting and simplified handling analysis).

  • Generates and implements cost saving ideas.

  • Maintains routings in SAP on a regular basis.

  • Maintains data in automated systems on the production floor and ensure availability of parameters for engineering changes.

  • Uses data analysis/SPC to drive improvements.

  • Incorporates lean manufacturing principles in all areas of responsibility.

  • Creates and evaluates a value stream map and design.

  • Performs work under direct supervision.

  • Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.

Specific Knowledge

  • Beginning to Working Knowledge of Manufacturing Processes.

  • Basic training in AutoCAD or any other CAD application, SPC, Plant Layout, MTM, Assembly Line Balancing, Ergonomics, Etc.
