Position Summary:
This person assumes responsibility for care and safety of patients, equipment, and supplies. The PCT reports to the Charge Nurse, Head Nurse, and Clinical Care Coordinator. In addition, the PCT ensures effective communication to staff at all times and performs duties as indicated by the individuals that he or she reports per policy and procedure.
Hazards & Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours a day, walk up to 4 hours a day, and sit for up to 4 hours a day. Must be able to occasionally push/pull up to 100 lbs and lift/carry up to 20 lbs on an occasional basis. Is aware of risk of exposure to communicable diseases; blood and/or body fluids. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, cold, heat, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious diseases.
Education & Experience: Must have graduated from High School or obtained GED.
Must meet one of the following qualifications:
(1) CNA with three years of experience with Phlebotomy certification or;
(2) Current EMT-I or Paramedic certification with 3 yrs. EMT experience or;
(3) Documented proof of at least 1 yr of experience in a PCT role from an outside institution.or;
(4) Completion of a Nursing Program. (minimum Graduate of PN Program required)
Specific Requirements: BLS certification. Must be knowledgeable and comfortable working with computers.
Telemetry certification preferred.
