Responsibilities

The position of Sr. Analyst, Assistant Vice President is within the Accounts Payable / Expense Allocation Group of the Fund Accounting & Operations department. This resource will lead the effort to design and implement reporting and analytics for senior management as well as departments across Oaktree.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement the following reports for Senior Management and Portfolio Managers:
    • Total cost of ownership of funds and investment accounts:
      • Measure and report on all administrative costs to support investment vehicles including analytics by support category, vendor
      • Create benchmarking measurements to align and compare TOC across similar strategies and sized vehicles
      • Develop expense forecasting models to facilitate pricing on new funds and accounts
    • Vendor Expenditures
      • Measure total expenditure by vendor to assess key vendor relationships
      • Develop rate cards to facilitate pricing negotiations
      • Benchmark vendors within common categories
      • Collaborate with counterparts at Brookfield Asset Management to identify discount opportunities
    • Develop Internal Support Metrics
      • Measure internal effort by function and investment vehicle type to seek inefficiencies
      • Develop benchmarking by investment vehicle category to forecast incremental support costs for proposed Investment Funds/Accounts
    • Benchmark internal / external support costs versus peer set
      • Perform periodic assessment of outsourcing, onshore and offshore models
  • Collaborate with Corporate Accounting, Corporate Finance and Treasury groups
    • Analyze Corporate expenditures by component and facilitate assessment of expense forecasting, including modelling to inform decision making
    • Develop a cash forecasting model to minimize liquidity needs to support vendor and fund expenditures
    • Provide support for annual expense budgeting for Corporate Expenditures and monitor ongoing actual vs budgeted amounts by category and department
  • Perform Quality Control reviews of Expense Management & Analytics, Operations
    • Develop throughput metrics, error ratios, and other productivity measures
    • Monitor for compliance with internal policy mandates
  • Work closely with leadership and resources within the team to continuously improve process and data quality standards within the group.

Qualifications

  • 7 – 10 years business analysis experience within the financial services industry, preferably in the investment management industry.
  • Experience in “Big 4” type organizations (or comparable), in consulting or audit
  • Track record in business analysis and process improvement;
  • Solid analytical skills and ability to understand and resolve complex problems;
  • Experience with large sets of data including data manipulation in logical data structures and reconciliations;
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio
