JOB TITLE: Imaging Services Scheduling Tech/ Office Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Imaging Services Director
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for coordinating clerical, scheduling, pre- registration and billing duties using Meditech. The coordination of activities occurs intradepartmental, and with physician offices. Performs other related duties incidental to work described within. The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit’s policies and procedures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
A High School Graduate preferred. Surgical Technologist, CNA or Medical Assistant preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of two years of secretarial, medical/secretarial skills preferred. Minimum of one year experience in related healthcare field preferred
SKILLS
Ability to relate well and work well with all types of people a necessity, along with well-developed written and verbal skills and interpersonal skills. Must know medical terminology. Must be able to type a minimum of 60 words per minute.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Effectively communicates with physicians’ offices /patients to schedule procedures for the following departments at CRH: Imaging Services and Cardiopulmonary.
  • Schedules elective, add on and emergent/urgent cases using Meditech.
  • Professionally greets all customers calling or presenting themselves to the Imaging Services Department in a professional, friendly, and helpful manner.
  • Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with physicians and their office personnel and CRH department personnel.
  • Maintains adequate time allotments for each procedure scheduled. Coordinates with appropriate department personnel any changes in schedules, needs for special equipment, or any unusual requests related to the procedure.
  • Maintains the flow of communication in the department, including answering the telephone and providing information and directions for patients and other guests.
  • Cross trains with OR Specialists in order to learn skills that support the department in the absence of OR specialist (including, but not limited to: front desk duties, entering billing/patient charges, working with Materials Specialist, Vendor control, Reptrax and other duties as assigned).

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

  • Attends meetings as requested and takes notes.
  • Maintains files/ records for Imaging Services Department – which may include reporting statistics.
  • Maintain a current BLS status.
  • Serves on committees as requested.
  • Maintains department files.
  • Retrieves mail from hospital and distributes to appropriate staff and delivers mail to the hospital.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
