We are seeking an experienced and passionate Per Diem Occupational Therapist to join our Occupational Therapy – Rehab Department at Rush University Medical Center!

Position Highlights:

Our department includes graduate academic and clinical occupational therapy programs in acute care medicine, inpatient psychiatry, inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient rehabilitation, including services for pediatric and adult upper-extremity injuries. We support the practitioner-teacher-investigator model of practice and there are opportunities to engage in clinical and academic mentorship and projects that foster professional growth. The Occupational Therapist (OT) is an active participant in the interdisciplinary team. The Occupational Therapist meets the requirements of all internal and external regulatory bodies.

Position Responsibilities:
Contributes patient information relevant to assessment, current status and discharge planning.

May be delegated responsibility for supervision of volunteers, students, and other staff when appropriate.
Directs the evaluation process including determining the need for services, defining problems within the domain of OT, determine goals, and establishes treatment priorities.

Interprets the information provided by the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) and integrates the information into the evaluation as appropriate.

Develops the intervention plan in collaboration with all team members
Implements the intervention plan
Determines the need to modify, continue or discontinue services

Selects implements and makes modifications to therapeutic activities and interventions that are consistent with competency levels and client goals and their social-cultural context.
Delegates responsibilities to COTA within guidelines of RUMC
Maintains departmental productivity standards.
Demonstrates ability to safely lift and/or move therapy equipment.
Demonstrates ability to maintain patient safety.
Demonstrates the ICARE values with patients, colleagues, and interdisciplinary team members.

Adheres to policies and procedures.

Maintains accurate and timely patient documentation.
Participates in continuous quality improvement processes and program evaluation.
Supervises OT practicum, level I and level II OT students and other students as directed.

Provides proof of completed documents related to health and education requirements.

Identifies and pursues own professional growth and development.
Functions according to the AOTA Code of Ethics and standards of the profession

Position Qualifications Include:
Certification by NBCOT

Current Illinois licensure to provide services as a licensed occupational therapist
Graduate of an accredited ACOTE OT Program; Master’s degree in occupational therapy desired
