What is an Industrial Electronics Maintenance Technician?

The Industrial Electronics Maintenance Technician will be involved with the installation, maintenance, and continual improvement of electrical equipment used in all aspects of automation (both electrical and electro-mechanical) at our tubing mill. The Industrial Electronics Technician is expected to work on every type of system from the simplest electrical systems using fuses and motors to the most complex electronic systems using sophisticated electronic computer interface boards, motor drives, programmable logic controllers, HMI’s, hydraulic and pneumatic positioners, solid-state devices, and robotics. This position helps the company create a culture of safety by following all safety policies and safe work practices.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair electronic and electro-mechanical problems related to PLC, circuit boards, drives, high frequency heating equipment, etc.
  • Read, understand, and modify PLC programs for equipment as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and program robots as needed (Fanuc RJ2).
  • Develop appropriate technical contacts within our equipment supplier base.
  • Continue education as new technology is introduced in the plant.
  • Cross train to support other positions as needed

What are the requirements?

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong math skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of various types of motor drives, PLC programming, electronic and electrical circuit troubleshooting, and robotics.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Relevant education. A wide range of education (associates degree, EE, EET, etc.) will be considered depending on the combination of education, actual work experience, and certifications.

  • Starting pay of $22 an hour + $1/hr. shift differential
