States and Canada. In 2016 we doubled the size of our campus property as part
of an ongoing expansion plan.

About
the Role
:

This role
is responsible for setting-up and controls plating equipment to coat metal
parts with cadmium to provide protective surfaces according to specifications.
Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or company management.

What you’ll
do
:

Core
duties and responsibilities include the following. 

  • Reads and
    understands instructions in English.
  • Reads work
    order to determine size and composition of object to be plated; type
    concentration and temperature of plating solution; type and thickness and
    location of the cadmium plating; and amount of electrical current and time
    required to complete plating process.
  • Load/Unload
    parts on racking or fixtures.
  • Immerses
    parts in cleaning and rinsing baths.
  • Suspends
    parts from cathode rod and immerses object in plating solution.
  • Moves
    controls on rectifier to adjust flow of current through plating solution from
    anode to cathode and to permit electro deposition of cadmium on the parts.
  • Removes
    plated parts from solution at periodic intervals and observes to ensure
    conformance to specifications.
  • Adjust
    voltage and amperage based on observation.
  • Examines
    parts visually at end of process to determine thickness of the cadmium deposit
    or measures thickness, using instruments such as micrometers or calipers.
  • May
    measure, mark and mask areas excluded from plating.
  • Perform
    other related chemical processing operations, such as, vapor blasting, sandblasting,
    and degreasing when required.
  • Maintain
    material traceability throughout the plating process.
  • Performs
    other related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

Education and Experience:

  • High
    school diploma.
  • Must
    have 5-7 years’ experience in Plating is required.
  • Possess
    advanced plating process knowledge about critical manual operations and plating
    processes.
  • May
    need to participate in annual Hearing Conservation testing and Eye Exams.
  • Ability
    to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, including safety glasses,
    goggles or face shields, aprons, boots, gloves, and other PPE based upon
    requirements in working area.

    approximately 75% or more during the working day.
