Project Manager – Healthcare Medicaid

Position:  Project Manager – Healthcare  

Location:  Albany, NY (Hybrid)

Duration:  1 Year

Job Duties:

This position is located in the New York State Department of Health’s Division of Operations and Systems (DOS), within the Office of Health Insurance Programs (OHIP). Under the supervision of a NYSDOH DOS program lead, this Project Manager role will focus on developing and utilizing project management tools to ensure that organizational project goals are tracked and achieved while maintaining alignment amongst a diverse set of project stakeholders.

Job Duties

  • Independently create and maintain project documentation (including scope, tasks, and objectives) with minimal guidance when provided the necessary information (e.g., goals).
  • Assist project teams with estimating necessary resources and timelines to reach project objectives.
  • Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan.
  • Maintain project management tools to ensure that progress is tracked and that risks, issues, and decisions are accurately recorded and escalated (when necessary).
  • Provide consistent, regular project updates to various stakeholders regarding project progress.
  • Use industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout project planning, execution, and closeout.
  • Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Document internal and external project processes and policies to support team.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare, Public Health, Business or related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant project management experience.

Required Skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Project and other Office 365 collaboration tools.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop relationships with diverse stakeholder groups through excellent listening and effective written and verbal communications.
  • Demonstrated success with facilitating meetings.
  • Experience with Medicaid data or Medicaid Information Technology project is strongly preferred.
