Healthcare Switchboard Operator Essential Job Functions:
- Answer the switchboard in a calm and professional manner.
- Page all personnel as authorized in department procedures in a professional manner.
- Verify, and record all emergency calls.
- Monitor all alarm indicators located in the operator room: medical gas alarm, oxygen line pressure, fire alarm panel and report immediately to the Engineering department when monitors go into alarm.
- Monitor dedicated CODE phone line at switchboard and respond immediately if alarms activate as authorized.
- Accurately transfer calls to the correct extension or department.
- Review and record information in the Communication Journal, including codes, customer/employer complaints, equipment problems/repairs, notable incidents, safety issues and concerns, and any other information that needs to be communicated to other shifts.
Healthcare Switchboard Operator Requirements:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Operator and/or customer service experience.
- Must work well under extreme pressure and have excellent communication skills.
- Experience with a switchboard/phone operating system.
- Experience working in a hospital environment preferred.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, overnights, and weekends.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Must be 100% nicotine free.
- Must pass drug screen, TB test, and background check and provide proof of MMR vaccination prior to start of employment.
Healthcare Switchboard Operator Hours:
- Must be open to 2nd or 3rd shift, and weekends
Healthcare Switchboard Operator Starting Pay Rate:
- $16.00 per hour
