Providence is calling a Respiratory Therapist (Respiratory Therapy, Variable, 0.9 FTE, 36 hours per week) to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children’s Hospital in Spokane, Washington. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all – especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

The Department-based Respiratory Therapist is expected to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of contemporary Respiratory Therapy principles. He/She will collaborate with Physicians and Nurses in planning and implementing the patient plan of care. Completion of the department orientation program as well as unit-specific orientation, as required, is mandatory. This individual assists the Physician with the delivery and direction of Respiratory Therapy. She/He may be qualified by training and experience to operate and maintain complex ventilatory support systems, monitoring and resuscitation devices, respiratory care procedures and patient assessments, diagnostic procedures and oxygen therapy. Activities may also include other patient care functions for which he or she is qualified.

Provides high quality service to all customers; focuses on understanding customers’ needs and follows through.   • Communication: Promote and demonstrate effective, open and honest written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self Management: Demonstrate self-management behaviors which reflect a positive image of SHMC, following established policies and procedures and promote an efficient, cost effective work environment.
  • Ownership /Stewardship and Accountability: Demonstrate good stewardship of resources by treating property of customers, Sacred Heart Medical Center and co-workers with care and respect.
  • Teamwork: Work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of staff and other disciplines for problem solving without blaming.
  • Flexibility: Demonstrate flexibility by readily adapting to different situations to complete work.
  • Perform the initial and ongoing respiratory assessment of the patient integrating input from team members.

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree of AMA accredited school of Respiratory Therapy.
  • Required upon hire: Washington Respiratory Care Practitioner License
  • Required upon hire: National Provider BLS – American Heart Association
