Job Summary

The Qualified Mental Health Professional (QP) is part of a Day Treatment team consisting of a Licensed Professional Team Leader (LP), Day Treatment Program Director, other QP’s, and Associate Professionals (AP)/Paraprofessionals (PP). The QP is responsible for up to 6 clients in the Day Treatment program. The QP assists their clients in learning, developing, and utilizing coping strategies, social skills, and other skills to become successful and improve functioning in the school, home, and community settings. The QP provides daily group therapy sessions utilizing psychoeducational and psychotherapeutic interventions/activities with their clients.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provides daily psychoeducational/psychotherapeutic groups and activities for up to 6 clients and for up to 6 hours per day.
  • Coordinates Child and Family Team meetings with all those involved in client’s care.
  • Develops and implements the Person Centered Plan for each client, revises and updates the PCP as needed, including adding psychoeducational/psychotherapeutic interventions to the client’s PCP as needed.
  • Provides additional case management functions of linking, arranging for services, and referrals for each client.
  • Keeps in close contact with families and people involved in the client’s care to encourage and promote family involvement.
  • Provides first responder crisis plans, which may require face-to-face and/or telephonically services at times.
  • Assures proper administration of all medication and proper documentation (if applicable).
  • Develops the daily/weekly/monthly activities schedule with the clients.
  • Documents each client’s progress and the effectiveness of the strategies and interventions outlined in the PCP. This includes a daily written progress note for each client.
  • Collaborates with the medical and treatment providers.
  • Collaborates with school staff and administration.
  • Completes NCTopps questionnaires with clients/families.
  • Is part of a Day Treatment Team that works closely together and meets weekly to review client updates, effectiveness of interventions used, and additional support.

Qualifications and Skills

Minimum Qualifications: Meets qualifications for a Qualified Professional according to state definitions 10A NCAC 27G.0104,

(a) an individual who holds a license, provisional license, certificate, registration or permit issued by the governing board regulating a human service profession, except a registered nurse who is licensed to practice in the State of North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing who also has four years of full-time accumulated experience with the population served; or

(b) a graduate of a college or university with a Master’s degree in a human service field and has one year of full-time, post-graduate degree accumulated experience with the population served; or

(c) a graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a human services field and has two years of full-time, post-bachelor’s degree accumulated experience with the population served; or

(d) a graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a field other than human services and has four years of full-time, post-bachelor’s degree accumulated experience with the population served.

AND

is required to have the skill, knowledge, and experience with child/adolescent Mental Health.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $40,000.00 per year
