Under the supervision of the Director of the Medical and specialty care Units Registered Nurse and Licensed Practical Nurse, provides care to assist patients with daily activities. Protects the confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA standard.
Core functions of the job include:
- bathing, assisting ambulatory and bedridden patients with toileting, Offers bedridden patients bedpan/urinal as needed. Quickly responds to patient and nurse requests for assistance. Completes facility rounding sheets after performing scheduled visits to patient rooms. Reports bruises, blood in urine or other injuries/wounds.
- Obtains and records vital signs in electronic medical record. Delivers and serves meals to patient care areas, providing assistance as needed. Records oral intake and output on appropriate unit forms. Promptly and clearly communicates any changes in patient condition or patient request to nursing staff.
- Turns and repositions bedridden patients according to care plan to provide maximum comfort and maintain skin integrity. Safely transfers patients from stretcher to bed, wheelchair to bed using proper body mechanics. Cleans and sanitizes patient areas per approved unit policies. Changes bed linen and restocks rooms with necessary supplies. Provides other services within scope of care and as credentialed.
Minimum Qualifications: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred. Must hold current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
