HEALTHCARE SERVICES COORDINATOR – OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY – State of Arizona – Phoenix, AZ

The Department of Economic Security, Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Healthcare Services Coordinator – Occupational Therapy. DDD provides individuals with developmental disabilities, and their families, services and supports that are flexible, high quality, and member driven. These services provide individuals with opportunities to exercise their rights and responsibilities of independent decision-making and engagement in the community

Job Duties:

  • Performs reviews of submitted documentation, that includes new services, ongoing/continuation of services, and increase or decrease in services which may require a Notice of Action.
  • Utilizes clinical expertise to review reports, records, and data to monitor therapy utilization by members, qualified vendor providers, and the Division.
  • Provides clinical guidance and therapeutic oversight to the Occupational Therapist at ATPC, and clinical guidance/support to the Division’s State Operated Residential Programs.
  • Participates in Division policy and procedure review, revision, and/or development regarding therapies. Participates in meetings with internal and external stakeholders regarding therapies.
  • Monitors compliance with all CMS, State, AHCCCS, and Contractual requirements of qualified vendor providers of Occupational Therapy for Home and Community Based Settings (HCBS).
  • Reviews records for accuracy and compliance with recognized therapy documentation standards. May be requested to assist Attorney General’s Office with litigation review or expert testimony.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of Occupational Therapy
  • Knowledge of identification and treatment of physical or mental disorders
  • Knowledge of scope of occupational therapy and its relationship to other health care professions
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements for Qualified Vendor Providers of Occupational Therapy
  • Skilled in oral and written communication
  • Skilled in project leadership and coordination
  • Skilled in using various hand tools such as screwdrivers and wrenches to adjust therapy equipment and devices
  • Skilled in project leadership and coordination
  • Ability to evaluate the effectiveness and applicability of orthopedic and therapeutic appliances, equipment and modalities including ultrasound, electrical stimulation and hot packs, etc.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to make independent decisions and motivate others
  • Ability to analyze situations accurately

Selective Preference(s):

  • The candidate must be a graduate in a master’s level Occupational Therapy Program.
  • Prefer active membership in relevant professional organization at state and/or national level at 5 years.
  • Experience in Quality/Value improvement, patient safety, accrediting body standards and expense management highly desirable.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Must possess an Occupational Therapy license from the State of Arizona or have ability to secure an Occupational Therapy license within 6 months from hire date. Must maintain proper licensing and training as required by the Arizona Occupational Therapy Licensing Board.
  • Must have a current BLS certification.
  • In-state travel may be required for State business. Employees who drive on state business must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.) AND have an acceptable driving record for the last 39 months including no DUI, suspensions, or revocations and less than 8 points on your license. If an Out of State Driver License was held within the last 39 months, a copy of your MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) is required PRIOR to driving for State business. Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed.
    Employee shall have a valid Level One fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-2758.07 in order to work with children and vulnerable adults.
  • Candidates for this position shall be subject to a search the Child Protective Services Central Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 8-804.
  • Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees
  • Successfully pass background and reference check; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the Agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions

Retirement:

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period.
