Coding Supervisor – Radiology Practice – Richmond, VA

Commonwealth Radiology (Commonwealth Radiology) is looking for a highly-organized and conscientious person to join its Business Office Staff as a Coding Supervisor. The Coding Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Director of Coding with oversight of daily coding operations. This may include work volume and distribution, workflow evaluations and testing. This position may also include reviewing and reconciling reports, providing coding training within the Coding Department and performing research on coding issues. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Medical Coder to take on additional responsibility and support a talented team of coding specialists.

This position will perform the following duties:

· Responsible for assisting with the day-to-day oversight of coding staff, including establishing staff schedules and deployment, reviewing employee time records and providing feedback on coder performance.

· Responsible for monitoring coding work queues, including deployment of coders to areas of greatest need.

· Responsible for answering charging, coding, or software related questions from Coders, provider, clinical and Revenue Cycle staff.

· Assist with education in-services for Coders.

· Assist with education in-services for physicians, other providers and clinical staff relating to documentation, coding and charging guidelines.

· Perform research, run various reports and assist with general coding as needed and as requested.

· Review and abstract data from medical reports, determining and assigning procedure and diagnosis codes to procedures performed.

· Perform auditing activities to include review of chart coding and billing documentation, document results and create corrective action plans if needed.

· Work with Coding Denial Specialist on coding related denials and identifying corrective actions or work flow improvements that may be needed.

· Work with hospital system on Charge File issues.

· Work with Director of Coding to ensure coding services meet daily production and quality goals

· Comply with carriers’ and government regulations to ensure appropriate coding and charging processes.

Applicants must have:

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Certified Professional Coder (AAPC)

· Two years of medical insurance billing experience using a computerized accounts receivable system

· Two years of management or supervisory experience

· Two years of experience in Procedural and Diagnosis coding, preferred

· Two years of Evaluation & Management coding, preferred

· Interventional Radiology Experience, preferred

· Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
