Behavior Technician – Aura Behavioral Health – Novato, CA

Aura is a healthcare group founded and led by clinicians who share the goal of fostering hope for children and families impacted by Autism. The Behavior Technician role requires you to work directly with children and teenagers to deliver individualized, play-based and evidence-based treatment. Aura uses a naturalistic and play-based approach to ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) treatment. Our team of professionals use the power of creativity and play to build bonds with our clients and teach them to communicate, socialize, play and manage behavioral concerns. Work is conducted in client homes, community settings, schools and sometimes through telehealth (video-based treatment).

What you’ll do:

As an Aura employee, you will:

  • Use your own play skills and creativity to motivate children and individuals to learn new skills
  • Follow and implement treatment plans as advised by a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst)
  • Travel to family homes and other locations to provide treatment
  • Collect data on various behaviors through an online data system
  • Report to BCBA®, Clinical Supervisor or Program Supervisor
  • Participate in monthly/bi-monthly meetings and annual trainings
  • Maintain the safety and well-being of clients
  • Help change lives of individuals and families affected by developmental disabilities

What we look for:

  • Caring, patient, creative, organized and passionate individuals who enjoy playing with children!
  • Experience working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental disabilities is a huge plus and very desired!
  • Prior experience with ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) is highly desired
  • Possess a Bachelors degree with education in ABA, child development, psychology and/or Autism studies (preferred)
  • Spanish or other bi-lingual speaker (preferred)
  • Current CPR certification (preferred)
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, orally and in writing with all levels of staff, the general public and the people we support
  • Flexibility to work in the home, school, clinical, community and online telehealth settings
  • Ability to walk, stand, stoop, run and sit on the floor and play with children
  • Availability of at least 15 hours across 4 weekdays (M-F), between 3pm to 8pm
  • Willingness to drive at least 15 miles and up to 60 miles both to and from client locations
  • Technologically savvy; have consistent access to and use of a smart cell phone or tablet
  • Eagerness to follow COVID-19 related safety precautions and protocols

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Valid identification and reliable form of transportation
  • Documentation of the following vaccinations: MMR, Varicella, Pertussis, Hep-B, COVID-19
  • Must be willing to complete and pass a work authorization check and a criminal background check upon hire
  • Hold a current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT™) through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB®) or BCAT ™ through the Behavioral Intervention Certification Council (BICC®) (Preferred)
