Director, Pharma Partnering and Biomarkers, Pharma Services – Lantheus Medical Imaging, Inc. – Billerica, MA

The Director of Pharma Partnering and Biomarkers will be the main growth driver on the Pharma Services team. In close partnership with the rest of the Pharma Services team, the candidate will identify and capture opportunities for Pharma Services portfolio (consisting of imaging biomarkers, microbubbles platform, and artificial intelligence software platform) and ensure Pharma Partners are able to optimally benefit from Lantheus’ capabilities. Tangentially, the candidate will be responsible for continually innovating on deal structures to ensure maximum value is brought back to Lantheus and is reflective of dynamic nature of the organizations operations (working closely with the Head of Operations and Partnerships, Pharma Services)

The successful candidate will be highly-driven and able to strategically identify and source deals aligned with the strategy set forth by the Pharma Services and Corporate Development leadership team. This includes relevant industry conference attendance, leveraging existing networks, and proactive outreach to potential prosects to fill the Pharma Services funnel with high-quality opportunities.

The position is fast-paced and highly collaborative, working with a dynamic network of internal and external stakeholders to achieve Pharma Services revenue and strategic goals. Key internal partners include Legal, R&D, Medical Affairs, Tech Ops, Supply Chain and the rest of the Corporate Development team. External partners include Pharma Partners (such as BD, translational, imaging, and clinical operations teams), academic thought leaders and PIs, start-up biotech companies and external consultants as needed.

The Director of Pharma Partnering and Biomarkers will work closely with the Platform Strategy and Growth lead to support and execute the business unit growth strategy. They will work closely to inform and support new asset in-licensing or acquisitions and provide feedback from customers on what would address known unmet needs. Feedback or participation on other strategic projects will be required on an ad hoc basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • In partnership with Platform Growth and Strategy lead, executes on Business Development-related aspects of Pharma Services, including generating new strategic partnerships based on Lantheus’ platform technologies (biomarkers, microbubbles and AI) / capabilities and the customer’s needs
  • Proactively sources new revenue-generating deals with academics and industry partners via conferences, leveraging existing network, and cold outreach; primary lead on inbound opportunities
  • Drives partnership deals from beginning to end, including identifying and pitching clinical use cases of Pharma Services technologies, negotiating deals with partners, pulling in experts as needed, and supporting contracting
  • Work with a highly cross-functional team both within Corporate Development and Lantheus to achieve Pharma Services economic and strategic goals
  • Continually refines contract structure to bring value back to Lantheus and Pharma Services and ensure efficient operations
  • Builds relationships with internal and external stakeholders at partner organizations to enable the identification of new opportunities
  • Contributes to the overall progression of the Pharma Services portfolio by providing feedback to the Pharma Services team from customers
  • Support Pharma Services leadership with assessing and in-licensing of new biomarker technologies.
  • Travels domestically and internationally at least 15% of the time
  • Other ad hoc projects as needed

Minimum Requirements

  • A. or B.S. (or equivalent) in scientific field
  • 10+ years of experience working in sales or business development life sciences industry
  • Experience working in complex partnerships with industry stakeholders (Pharma, academic, start-ups etc.)
  • Knowledge of biotech industry intricacies (e.g. development risk, portfolio prioritization, approach to valuing pipeline assets, importance of regulation and intellectual property)
  • Track record of high performance

Preferred Requirements

  • Master’s Degree and/or PhD in a business or scientific discipline
  • Experience in imaging and/or radiopharmaceuticals
  • Experience with Pharma Partnering, particularly in a drug development setting; experience in Translational Medicine a plus
  • Strong knowledge and credibility in the oncology market
  • Demonstrated record of high productivity and results
  • Demonstrated evidence of success working in a cross-functional environment
  • Ability to begin and complete all assignments with minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication, and collaborative skills with individuals, groups, and senior management
  • Proactive initiative in communications and initiative in building strong relationships
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to generate reports and presentations
  • Strong organizational, prioritization and time management skills
  • Strong writing, presentation, organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to understand and communicate scientific or technical information
  • Ability to work across multi-disciplinary groups and to lead decision-making discussions
