Clinician – LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC – FIVE ACRES – THE BOYS’ AND GIRLS’ AID SOCIETY OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY – Altadena, CA

Summary:

Responsible for providing a wide variety of individual, family, and group therapy; case management counseling; crisis intervention; and advocacy services to families, children, and other clients in accordance with their specific therapeutic needs.

The Head of Service (HOS) is the first point of contact for receiving and making an appropriate disposition for all management inquiries regarding a client. The HOS will be responsible for ensuring that all clients receive appropriate mental health treatment services and that the mental health treatment services are documented and reports are completed in a timely manner.

Essential Duties:

Provides direct clinical work and/or therapeutic services to clients and families as measured by supervision and/or direct or taped observation.
Complies with productivity standards of the Agency and maintains an appropriate caseload to reach the budgeted daily expectation of billable hours. (refer to Productivity Policy)
Submits timely documentation (progress notes, assessments, treatment plans, notes to chart) as outlined in policy and measured via productivity reports (refer to Progress/Case Note Submission Policy).
Continually assesses the needs and symptoms of clients and families (meets medical necessity) formulating psychosocial diagnosis, gathering history, and determining the most appropriate method (s) of providing treatment/Evidence Based Practice (individual, family, group, supportive, outreach etc.)
Continually assesses client progress and modifies treatment via completion and submission of outcome measures.
Accurately documents all work with client and/or family and/or relevant persons as measured by QA standards and peer review audit results.
Participates in clinical/case supervision by coming prepared to discuss current caseload, documentation and productivity; accepts constructive feedback and direction; and puts feedback into clinical and/or therapeutic practice with clients.
Establishes and maintains rapport and effective working relationships with child (ren), families, and community; works effectively within the Agency and community at large.
Advocating and/or ensuring accompaniment for clients (court, medical, mediation, medication, and visitations) with the goal to ensure satisfactory placement of a child in a safe, permanent, and stable home setting.
Ensuring that each child admitted to the program has a mental health assessment and that mental health services identified on each treatment plan are provided and appropriate to meet the individual needs of the child.
Ensuring that each child in the STRTP has commonality of needs with the other children in the STRTP< including whether the child’s presence is adverse to the safety or mental health needs of the child or other children admitted to the STRTP.
Monitoring the quality of the mental health services provided to the children.
Making arrangements, including transportation, for children to receive mental health services that cannot be provided by the STRTP. In addition, making arrangements for special provision of mental health services to children with disabilities including visual and auditory impairment.
Development of mental health staff schedules, training schedules, mental health treatment service schedules, medication schedules, and any other schedules for the operation of the STRTP mental health program.
Ensure the quality of client mental health treatment services within the designated provider site. Including, ensuring that documentation and recordkeeping requirements are met.
Ensure client’s mental health treatment services are documented and reports are completed timely.
Maintains effective community outreach efforts to bring awareness and education to the services of Five Acres; or knowledge of other community resources that can benefit the family.
Maintains knowledge of program standards and policies as developed by Five Acres, COA, Community Care Licensing, DCFS, DMH, and other governing bodies; develops personal and professional knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the art practices; participating in in-service programs.

Qualifications:

To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have:

LMFT, LCSW or LPCC preferred license issued by the State of California, plus a minimum of two years post-licensure experience.
Must maintain licensure as a condition of employment.
Training in an Evidence Based Practice, and serving 1 client per practice, if applicable.
Experience and education relative to the specific type of clients he or she will be supervising.
2 + years’ experience in the areas of family and child welfare, mental health and child abuse prevention and treatment.
Effective communication skills both oral and written.
Working knowledge of community resources that address the special needs of the client base.
Ability to be flexible and work in a changing environment.
Ability to attend Day 1 of the Pro Act de-escalating system training.
Maintain First Aid/CPR Certification.
Computer skills sufficient to meet production demands of the job including Microsoft Office and WELLIGENT software for program notes, and maintain detailed, accurate and complete records.
Ability to work varied hours including evenings, nights and weekends.
Must have a valid California Driver License, proof of automobile insurance and meet the Agency’s safe driver guidelines.
Strong problem-solving skills.
