The Oncology Clinical Data Abstractor will use their expertise in clinical oncology to review and abstract key data from multiple sources, structure the data based on a set of business rules, and assist in the creation of complete end-to-end clinical datasets from improving patient care and real-world evidence studies.
Job Responsibilities
Abstracts key variables from multiple data sources to create an accurate longitudinal record
Participates in the development of abstraction project standard operation procedures (SOPs)
Contributes to the development and refinement of project data dictionaries (DDs)
Participates in and contributes to workgroups and activities that educate the team on new processes and procedures for projects
May serve as lead abstractor on projects as needed
Performs quality checks on own work and others work
Works with the team to identify improvement processes
Maintains current knowledge of project requirements related to clinical data abstraction
Maintains current clinical data abstraction skills
Other related duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Demonstrated proficiency in abstracting data and using technology required
At least 3 years of relevant experience in oncology with a strong understanding of oncology therapeutic agents and regimens used in a variety of cancer types
Must meet one of the following qualifications : a licensed registered nurse (any state), a certified cancer tumor registrar (any state), or a certified pharmacy technician (any state)
High comfort level with technology and familiarity with EMR systems
Exceptional attention to detail
Self-motivator who can prioritize and address problems in a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment
