Summary

Promotes the Ministry, Mission and Core Values of the Arlington of Naples and Lutheran Life Communities by demonstrating professional and ethical work practices while fostering excellence in hospitality and customer service. Performs duties providing and maintaining quality of life for the residents. Supervises staff team on unit, is accountable for nursing care provided directly by unit staff under his /her supervisor.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Assigns and supervises CNA’s on assigned unit.
  • Makes rounds to assess residents and make recommendations regarding care.
  • Organizes, motivates, and supervises staff team on unit during tour of duty.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care of residents in conjunction with the Resident’s Care Plan.
  • Notify HSD concerning changes in staff assignments.
  • Assists in evaluating employee performance.
  • Makes rounds with physician, assess monthly orders, and suggests changes.
  • Serves as preceptor for new employee orientation.
  • Attends and participates in developing unit meetings, resident care conferences, and staff development programs.
  • Coordinates with other disciplines to provide comprehensive care.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies, assists in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment.
  • Psychotropic monthly charting.
  • Provides treatment and medication administration.
  • Performs daily and monthly charting.
  • Physical Assessment.
  • Monitors weight loss of resident and notifies attending physician and family members.
  • Elopement (wandering) resident monitoring.
  • Follows procedure of infection control.
  • Follows up CNA required charting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Skills

  • Current Florida LPN license required with advanced clinical and management education.
  • Experience in geriatrics preferred.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence and reports.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Attends all mandatory in-services and staff meetings.
  • Knowledgeable of the emergency codes and understands and observes departmental safety rules. Maintains a clean and safe work area. Completes annual medical history/physical and TB tests on time.
  • Possesses excellent customer relations skills.
