Highly Experienced* Veterinary Assistant/Technician – Allen Animal Hospital – Livonia, MI

LOOKING TO HIRE IMMEDIATELY! Feel free to reach out to our hospital after you’ve submitted your application if you haven’t heard back within 24 hours.

We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic person who is looking to gain additional experience in small animal general practice, teach and support other team members in their professional growth, and be part of an awesome team that truly feels like family.

We’re currently looking for an assistant with a refined skillset that includes the following (required):

  • Venipuncture
  • Radiography
  • Fecal flotation setup and reading
  • Ear cytology setup and reading
  • Client education (prevention, vaccines, etc.)
  • In-house prescription preparation

It’d be great if you have experience with the following skills as well (not required but strongly requested):

  • Anesthetic Management
  • Dental Prophylaxis
  • Surgical Assistance
  • IV catheter placement
  • Intubation
  • DaySmart Vet (previously Vetter) medical software
  • Covetrus online pharmacy

At this time, this position would not be a good fit for applicants without significant experience working as a veterinary technician.

Our ideal candidate is highly dependable, comes with excellent recommendations, is very self-motivated, and is eager to learn more skills and help others do the same! We pride ourselves on having a family culture that focuses on supporting staff in their personal and professional growth, and are looking for someone who is excited to grow and learn more about what we do for the furry members of our community. Additionally, we would like to note that our turnover rate is low (most of our employees have been with Allen Animal Hospital for more than 5 years, many for more than 15 years), and we are looking for someone who is interested in working here for a while if all goes well! All staff are expected to help out with some janitorial tasks around the hospital.

This position is for full time work, and we are looking for a flexible Monday-Friday schedule. Starting rate is between $15-$22/hour (negotiable based on experience), depending on previous experience and proficiency with veterinary assistant tasks such as those described above, with yearly performance reviews that determine raises.

Benefits for full-time employees (avg. 35+ hours/week) include, but are not limited to:

  • generous vet care discount
  • paid holiday days off
  • PTO that accrues monthly
  • medical/health, dental, and vision insurance
  • advancement and career path opportunities
  • extensive employee assistance program available to employee and family members so you can feel your best (includes access to personal health coach, 24/7/365 phone line with on-call mental health professionals, etc.)
