DIETARY UNIT CLERK (PART-TIME, DAYS) – University of Washington – Seattle, WA

Under the direct supervision of the Wellness and Technology Manager, the call center clerk receives patient phone calls, and guides the patient through the ordering process. The Call center clerk does data entry of patient diet orders and nourishment requests. Print and/or check patient menus according to established food patterns, therapeutic diet orders, food tolerance preferences, ensure that patient meal selections comply with restricted diets; Respond to verbal and written communications regarding patient nutritional care. Must react accurately and effectively with all changes to ensure efficient timing of services and compliance with physician orders. Label, deliver and pick up patient menus. Determine and report missed patient meals, assist patients lists, and supply patient census to food production area. Printing of advance tray tickets and updating the Office Communication Board. Relays concerns to Dietary Ambassador. Maintain supply inventory. Contribute to team process; maintain cooperative work environment and work to improve quality of service provided to patients and staff.

Print and/or check patient menus according to established food patterns, therapeutic diet orders, food tolerance preferences, ensure that patient meal selections comply with restricted diets; Respond to verbal and written communications regarding patient nutritional care. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment, high school graduation or GED, and one year of experience as a Dietary Unit Aide in a health care facility or equivalent. One year of additional experience may substitute for the educational requirement.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

DESIRED:

Requires knowledge of dietary restrictions and modified therapeutic diets to ensure optimal patient care and satisfaction. Familiar with Microsoft Windows software and ability to efficiently manage multiple line phone systems. Strong customer service skills.
