The Registered Nurse Supervisor (RNS), primary responsibilities are to manage Nursing staff, oversee Patient care, and confirm compliance with policies and procedures. In charge of admitting Patients, updating Patients’ medications, communicating with the pharmacy for medication, and reporting to the Director of Nursing (DON).
Additionally, the supervisor is an interface between Staff, Patients, and their families.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Holding nursing team members responsible for maintaining hospital policies and procedures
- Developing work schedules with adequate staffing for each shift, verifying that there are enough nurses on hand to provide physician support and patient care
- Managing departmental budgets to use resources as effectively as possible
- Making certain that patient records are kept up to date and that they remain private and confidential
- Working alongside the nursing team to provide direct care to patients, and communicating diagnosis and treatment plans with patient families
- Performing basic administrative duties and keeping all departments well-organized and efficient
Education:
- BS in Nursing or Public Health.
- An advanced degree is preferred.
- An Associate’s degree in Nursing or Public Health with applicable work experience may be considered in lieu of a BS.
- NYS license in Nursing with current registration is preferred.
Experience:
- Previous Long term Experience in the RNS role is preferable.
- Good investigative skills.
- Ability to write, educate and work independently.
