Job Summary: The Licensed Clinical Therapist reports to the Clinical Supervisor II, providing in-home and school-linked specialty Mental Health Services throughout Service Area 2 or Service Area 8.
The Licensed Clinical Therapist will provide comprehensive community-based therapy services to children and their families using standard therapy practices and documentation protocols according to the Department of Mental Health (DMH). The Licensed Clinical Therapist is responsible for meeting weekly productivity expectations (26 billable hours of care), carrying a caseload of approximately 15-22 clients, which is dependent on productivity and service delivery (in-person and telehealth), and maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records using the electronic health record system, EXYM, for all services rendered, in accordance with State of California and the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health.
The Licensed Clinical Therapist will travel to our clients’ homes and/or schools to provide services. Counseling4Kids emphasizes quality treatment and trauma-informed care. Our Services are primarily Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI), using the evidence-based treatment models of TF-CBT, MAP, CPP, PCIT, Triple P and Seeking Safety. We also have a MAT program whose assessors perform thorough assessments for children that have recently been removed from their home by DCFS. Licensed Clinical Therapists will receive training in one of more of these models/programs to meet the treatment needs of our clients. Our clients have high rates of trauma exposure and the majority have parents or caregivers who are involved with the Department of Children and Family Services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Clinical Services
- Provide in-home individual and family therapy to child and TAY clients, with an emphasis on trauma-informed care.
- Deliver PEI services with the EBP models of TF-CBT, MAP, CPP, PPP, Seeking Safety and PCIT.
- Provide case management services as needed, and coordinate client care for adjunct services such as medication management and psychological testing.
- Collaborate with social workers, children’s attorneys, and schools as needed to ensure foster care clients receive comprehensive care.
- Serve as primary contact for on-call emergency consultation, including outside of normal work hours.
- Billing Expectation / Productivity = 1560 Units of Service a week (26hours; 65%).
Quality Assurance
- Deliver effective Evidence-Based clinical treatment with adherence to model fidelity and protocols.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records, documenting client assessment, care plan and progress notes per Medi-Cal and LAC DMH standards.
- Administer standardized measures and outcome tools accurately and in compliance with guidelines.
- Maintain knowledge in Evidence Based Treatment protocols used within the agency; including participation in outside training, on-going awareness of developments within the field, and involvement in treatment model-specific networks and collaboratives.
- Participate in program evaluation of Evidence Based Programs and Clinical programs agency-wide.
Public Relations/Outreach
- Maintain agency credibility by establishing working relationships with community partners and agencies, including DCFS, DMH and the Children’s Court.
- Promote the agency by ensuring an understanding of program services available for clients; publicizing activities and accomplishments; adhering to a professional code of ethics.
- Address and answer any questions proposed by our community partners and parents regarding access to resources in the community.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree required in Clinical Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, Counseling, or Social Work
- Licensed in California as an MFT, LCSW, or PhD./Psy.D.
- Minimum of 2 years of previous counseling experience with children, families and community mental health
- Knowledge of Los Angeles County DMH and Medi-Cal procedures
- Experience providing mental health services requiring diagnostic evaluation, treatment planning and crisis intervention, as well as providing the various modalities of therapy
- Must be able to document in a clear and concise manner and in accordance with DMH and other program standards using the EXYM
- Strong commitment to children and families, and a willingness to take the steps necessary to assure their well-being
- Valid California Driver’s license and copies of all current certifications to the facility.

Supervisor Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to remain in a stationary (stand/sit) position at least 50% of the time. This person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Frequently communicates with staff, clients, families and other community organizations and must be able to exchange accurate information. Regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions when out in the community.
