RN-Outpatient Surgery – Raleigh General Hospital – Beckley, WV

Delivers perioperative care to the surgical patient through nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. Assures optimum quality patient care by serving as resource person for other staff members, patient and family. Coordinates patient care within surgical services and with other departments. Assists the physician. Supervises other registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants and technicians.

Assumes responsibilities for patient’s care in the operating room or procedure room as assigned.

Directs activities of operative procedure in room assigned.

Maintains accurate documentation of perioperative care.

Assists in maintenance of a clean and orderly environment.

Communicates with charge nurses, physicians and other team members.

Participates in continuing education.

Accepts responsibilities as a charge nurse.

Delivers direct patient care appropriate to age of patient served.

Reports to: Surgical Services Director

Minimum Education

Graduate of a Program in Discipline – RequiredGraduate of a School of Nursing / College Nursing Education Program

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS) – to be obtained within 30 days

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – to be obtained within 6 months

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – to be obtained within 6 months

Required Licenses

Current licensure by WV State Board of Nursing.
