DME Respiratory Therapist – Wellnecessities Inc. – Shreveport, LA

We are looking for experienced Respiratory Therapist with DME or Home Health background who is passionate about helping others and providing an amazing customer service experience to each and every patient!

Position is Monday – Friday 8am-5pm.

JOB SUMMARY

The Respiratory Therapist schedules patients for diagnostic and DME procedures while maintaining knowledge of procedures and protocols. The RT DME Patient Care Specialist provides CPAP and BiPAP machines and other DME equipment through marketing, sales education, training, and follow-up care to patients with sleep disorders. The RT Patient Care Specialist maintains a current compliance program including the collection of face to face documentation from patients. The RT maintains relationships with contract facilities and physicians’ offices as well as works closely with the Sales Rep, Director of Operations, and other members of the team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Calls patients and schedules appointments for CPAP or BiPAP machines. Initial contact within 24-48 hours.
  • Verifies patient insurance/benefits and authorization for initial and replacement supplies within 24-48 hours.
  • Meets with patients and does education and training on how to properly use DME equipment.
  • Follows up with patients on a monthly basis for first 12 months, then quarterly; provides reports to physicians.
  • Provides patients additional DME equipment as needed (filters, mask, etc.)
  • Resolves patient and referral concerns and is empowered to find quick solutions, in order to provide the best customer service possible.
  • Compiles and enters all patients’ billing information into billing system for clean claims.
  • Uses software to track patient compliance, including face-to-face documentation from patients. Prepares reports as indicated by supervisor during training and in-services.
  • Contacts physicians who have not ordered DME equipment on patients needing CPAP or BiPAP machines.
  • Participates in marketing/PR related activities to physicians, referral sources and patients.
  • Keeps inventory of DME products.
  • Assists team as needed or requested by supervisor. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
  • Provides monthly reports as requested regarding DME sales.
  • Assists with telephones and orders.
  • Makes home visits if needed for patients.
  • Maintains professional, respectful interaction with co-workers, supervisors and patients.

  • Travel may be required.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

1. License: Valid State Driver’s License required.

CRT or RRT required.

Louisiana State RT license required.

Must be willing to work towards SDS Certificate

Certification in Basic Life Support required.

2. Education: Associates degree required if CRT.

Bachelors degree required if RRT.

3. Experience: One year experience in clinical aspect of respiratory care or in medical office setting required.

4. Skills: Strong organizational skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, projecting a positive attitude.

Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.

Able to work collectively with administrative team associates.

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Able to deal professionally, courteously, and efficiently with the public and to remain calm under stress.

Knowledge of procedural and coding systems and medical terminology.
