Job Description:
- Under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Behavior Therapists (BTs) implement evidence-based behavior intervention methods specific to each child’s treatment plan. BT’s works 1:1 with children/adolescents and teach skills through play-based activities.
- ABA therapy aims to replace target behaviors (such as tantrums, aggression, noncompliance, and self-injurious behaviors) with socially significant behaviors (i.e., speech and language development, play skills, compliance, self-care, and increased independence).

ABA is a systematic approach in which clinical team members utilize their understanding of how behavior works, how it is affected by the environment, and how learning occurs. Learn more about the field of applied behavior analysis (ABA) and why its evidence-based practices are beneficial for children and adolescents diagnosed with Autism and other developmental disabilities. We provide ongoing support and the opportunity to obtain a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification under the supervision of a certified behavior analyst! With the RBT credential, our BTs qualify for a higher pay bracket.

Where is the job located?
- In addition to El Monte, we have additional staff needs in the following areas: Los Angeles, La Puente, Walnut, Bell, Diamond Bar, and Covina.
Schedule:
- This is a part-time position, but full-time hours are available if open to working with an additional client during the workweek, and there is always an opportunity to pick up extra hours.
- Typically Monday-Friday after 2:00 PM (as clients are usually in school in the mornings).
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Report to Clinical Supervisor (BCBA assigned to client’s case).
- Work 1:1 with the client.
- Utilize applied behavior analysis strategies as appropriate to the client’s behavior intervention plan.
- Regularly analyze the client’s strengths in completing functional tasks and assess their needs.
- Notify the clinical team of newly observed target behaviors.
- Document significant behavior changes accordingly.
- Promptly submit daily session notes.
- Ensure that all session notes are written in objective, observable, and measurable terms.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to challenging behaviors exhibited by the client.
- Perform data collection consistently when implementing strategies.
- Monitor the client’s progression according to goals outlined in a behavior intervention plan.
- Actively communicate session cancellations with Scheduler and coordinate makeup sessions.
- Direct questions and concerns to the administrative team.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and state and federal regulations.
- Check the PBS Outlook email account regularly and respond promptly.
- Participate in required team meetings.
- Complete mandatory and ongoing (paid) training.
- Additional responsibilities to accommodate the client’s needs as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Experienced preferred, but not needed! (RBT certification a plus).
- Minimum high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Experience working with individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Must demonstrate skills in time management, communication, organization, and documentation.
- Familiarity with Office 365 or proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred.
- Must have reliable transportation and a working cellular device.
- New hires are expected to complete a background check through the DOJ and FBI.
