The Behavioral Health Technician – Medical Assistant supports both the medical and clinical department by completing intake assessments, providing one-to-one counseling to individuals new in recovery, completing biopsychosocial assessments, health screenings and other duties necessary and appropriate. This person also plans treatment services as required. Conducts confidential, quality assessments, that are gender-responsive and trauma-informed
- Direct and indirect client contact as deemed appropriate. .
- Tolerate stressful situations
- Ability to adjust to increased workload
- Able to work independently as well as ability to work well with others
- Effective communication skills
- Provide clinical consultation to referral resources, Mentors, family members, and others to help support clients in their recovery
- Assist clients with scheduling an admission or first appointment date at the program or facility where they are referred
Completion of a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Sociology or an equivalent field from an accredited college or university with at minimum ability to meet state requirements of counselor position required. One year or more experience in the behavioral health field and experience in recovery preferred.
