Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner – New Vision Behavioral Health Services Inc – Baltimore, MD

New Vision Behavioral Health Services Inc, is an outpatient mental health clinic, located in Baltimore City. We are seeking a CRNP-PMHNP with the job title of Medical Director. The position requires 20 hours per week at our Harford Rd Baltimore City location. The position has the title of medical director. Days and times are flexible. New Vision serves children, adolescents, and adults. We are currently providing Telehealth services as well as office visits. This is an Independent Contractor’s position. Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Serves as the agency’s Medical Director
  • Establish and maintain appropriate standards for diagnosis and treatment, including therapeutic modalities and prescribing practices to children (beginning at age 6), adolescents and adults).
  • Establish and maintain adequate coverage- on site for 20 hours per week (2 locations). Days can be flexible.
  • Ensuring adequate clinical supervision of clinical staff.
  • Responsible for providing psychotropic medication services to patients of the agency.
  • Responsible for providing direct therapeutic services in the form of diagnostic assessments (psychiatric evaluations) and medication management sessions , Individual therapy, for individuals accepted into the program.
  • Responsible for maintaining patient records in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Documents in the patient’s record the rationale for prescribing medication.
  • Explain to the patient and their family the benefits and side effects of taking and not taking prescribed psychiatric medications and document the explanation.
  • In consultation with the program director and program staff, identifying staff training needs required to maintain program standards.
  • Has over-all responsibility for clinical services.
  • Improve patient’s self-awareness and knowledge regarding mental health illnesses and medications by educating on the proper use, drug interactions, and adverse reactions of medications and the course and prognosis of mental illnesses
  • Evaluate patients by interviewing patient, family, and other persons; observing behaviors; reviewing medical history and related documents; ordering laboratory tests and evaluating results.
  • Maintain interdisciplinary treatment by reviewing treatment plans and progress, and consulting and collaborating with primary care physicians, mental health therapists, and other health care providers.
  • Cultivate and nurture positive, productive relationships with patients, families, healthcare team members, and community providers to promote effective coordination of resources
  • Complete psychiatric evaluation form, medication management notes, therapy notes, any other forms/document relating to providing patient care.
  • Complete psychiatric evaluation and medication management notes within 48 hours of seeing the patient.
  • Complete disability and other forms as required.
  • Sign ITP, ITP reviews and other forms as needed.
  • 1-2 years experience working with children and adults with mental health diagnosis/disorders in an outpatient mental health setting.
  • Must work 20 hours per week.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $75.00 – $85.00 per hour
