Counseling Area Supervisor (FT) – Cortica – Remote

Cortica is looking for a Counseling Area Supervisor to join our growing multi-disciplinary team.


In this role, you will provide clinical guidance and support to a team of Counselors (Marriage and Family Therapists, Clinical Social Workers, Professional Clinical Counselors) across Cortica, under the direction of the Area Director. This role will allow you to build your leadership and training skills, mentor a dynamic team of counselors, and provide integrated client-centered care in partnership with a comprehensive clinical team.

What will you do?

You will dedicate a percentage (20-40% depending on the number of direct reports) of your role to the leadership duties below. The remainder of your time will be doing direct clinical client care as described below.

Leadership:

  • Assist in interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new Counselors in collaboration with Talent Acquisition Team and the Area Director.
  • Provide clinical support and guidance to Counselors to achieve optimal patient care and grow team members’ clinical skills.
  • Assist your area Counselors with difficult clinical decision-making.
  • Have a broad knowledge of all service lines within Cortica and work collaboratively with team members to achieve the best clinical outcomes for patients in your area.
  • Collaborate with the Area Director to manage performance issues related to clinical care providers within the Counseling Team and follow HR policies.
  • Travel as needed to support the Counseling team at clinics in your area
  • Participate in clinical programming project planning and execution while holding a seat on Cortica’s Clinical Excellence Council (CEC) Counseling Committee, under the direction of the Counseling Committee Chair.


Direct Clinical Care:

  • Delivering direct client counseling services to families, couples, and children (patients, their parents, and/or their siblings).
  • Utilizing therapeutic approaches that draw from a variety of disciplines and are tailored to the needs of the client. This may include Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Solution-Focused Collaborative Therapy, and others.
  • Attending to relational ethics, while collaborating with others in the interdisciplinary team and the families we serve. Actively engaging other team members to ensure wrap-around support for the family and sharing of information and ideas.
  • Participating in family care meetings with other providers.
  • Complying with clinic policies and all state, federal, and licensing board laws/requirements/regulations by fostering practices that adhere to the standards of care and ethical guidelines, including confidentiality and mandated reporting.
  • Adhering to – and supporting other team members’ adherence to – organizational standards and policies.
  • Maintaining documentation and communication in line with legal, ethical, and company standards.
  • Team members must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient information.

We’d love to talk to you if:

  • You possess a master’s degree or doctorate in psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or a related field.
  • You are well-grounded in and knowledgeable in a variety of empirically supported psychotherapy treatment approaches including, but not limited to, cognitive and behavioral, postmodern/post-structural, social-constructionism, and narrative therapy.
  • You have 3 years or more of experience working with children or families with developmental differences in a counseling environment.
  • You have 1 or more years of experience in a leadership role supervising direct multiple reports.
  • Possess a current and unrestricted license as a Mental Health Provider (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Psychologist) in CA.
  • Obtain Mental Health Provider licensure in all state(s) where you are eligible and Cortica has a presence within your Area(s) within 60 days following your hire date, as requested by the Area Director based on the business needs of your Area(s).
