The Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) manages a group of pharmacists and support staff who appropriately compound and dispense prescribed drugs in a healthcare facility environment. The PIC oversees staff in handling incoming physician calls, logging data into the computer, performing Rx workflow processing, transferring prescriptions, and conducting drug utilization review.

This position is located inside one of our clinic partners in San Rafael, CA (Marin Community Clinic, 3110 Kerner Blvd) and the hours are Monday through Friday staggered between 8:30am to 6:30pm (average hours are about 35 per week).

About the Role:

  • Manage the daily operations of the pharmacy, always maintaining the highest quality of pharmaceutical and services
  • Manage key areas of the P&L report to foster business growth and control expenses for the pharmacy
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to the practice of pharmacy
  • Direct activities and workflow efficiency of Staff Pharmacist(s), Pharmacy Clerk(s), Technician(s), Intern(s), and Extern(s) always seeking to improve processes to grow business
  • Communicate with staff on progress of policies and procedures involving the pharmacy department
  • Properly dispense, order, and maintain proper inventory of drugs, devices, and supplies, including controlled and dangerous substances pursuant to all state and federal laws
  • Effectively operate and maintain automated drug dispensing machinery
  • Collaborate with physicians to discuss potential incompatibility issues with patient prescriptions
  • Keep abreast of changing laws, regulations, and new pharmacy-related programs through participation in continuing education courses and reviewing pharmacy-related literature
  • Consult with clinic providers, administrators, and other personnel for the purpose of providing quality patient care and maximizing pharmacy performance
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • Uphold a clean, customer-friendly workplace, and always project a positive attitude
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism consistent with company standards, including dress, personal appearance, and grooming
  • Occasionally travel to corporate/regional offices as needed for managerial meetings
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

About You:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral (PharmD) degree in Pharmacy from an accredited university
  • 2+ years of full-time retail or clinic pharmacy experience preferred
  • Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) experience preferred
  • Certifications in different areas of Pharmacy and completion of an accredited Post-Graduate residency program a plus
  • Pharmacist license in good standing in the State of CA
  • Experience with pharmacy software such as PioneerRx, QSI, etc.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical/Health Records (EMR/EHR) such as EPIC, NextGen, CERNER, etc.
  • Strong Technical and MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.)
  • 340B experience preferred
  • AAHIV certification preferred
  • Spanish language skills preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer-service, managerial, and communication skills
  • Proactive self-starter with high degree of initiative and strong follow-up skills
  • Strong leadership, time management, organizational, and relationship-building skills
  • Able to efficiently mentor, motivate, and manage pharmacy staff while fostering positive customer relations
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and if hired, must provide proof of vaccination
