Position: Reception Customer Service
Department: Medical Office
Reports to: Physician / Chief of Operations
Category: Non-Exempt
Status: Full Time
Schedule: Variable and flexible schedule
Essential Function: Responsible for patient check-in and check-out, scheduling, answering phone calls and emails, taking payments, receives and sorts mail and packages, and opening and closing office.

Essential Skills:
- Computer literate with ability to operate keyboard and mouse, and Internet.
- Good English verbal communication skills and able to speak to patients, doctors, and other co-workers
- Good English written communication skills and able to read and interpret information to patients and doctors.
- Ability to schedule in office surgery.
- Must have demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, being friendly, compassionate and pleasant to patients.
- Must always represent the Morgenstern Center in the best light.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to speak and hear clearly on the phone and with patients.
- Able to stand for 2 + hours per day and able to navigate around work and testing stations.
- Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate computer, testing equipment, write and complete information.
Equipment to Operate:
- Computer literate with keyboarding, mouse and Internet experience.
- Knowledge of Mod-med system very helpful.
- Able to operate scanner, fax machine, Photocopier, and other basic office equipment.
Education / Experience Requirements:
- High School Graduate
- 2 years’ experience working in a medical office or ophthalmic practice preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with patients or customers in a compassionate and friendly manner.
Daily Responsibilities and Duties:
Collect and scan the appropriate documents and file correctly:
- Patient PFSH
- Patients’ medical history
- Patient medications
- Patient Chief Complaint
- Allergies
- Ensures Pharmacy information , referring Physician and Patient Head shots are loaded and accurate
Perform additional testing and procedures
- Responsible for opening and closing office.
- Answer phones, screen calls, triage patients and take payments
- Deliver messages
- Book appointments and oversee office schedule
- Activate patient portal
- Mail patient paperwork by email or USPS.
- Schedule in-office procedures
- Monitor Dr. Morgenstern’s In and Out boxes, fills and empties In and Out boxes daily.
- Serve as buffer with product representatives. Collect samples, literature and cards for Dr. Morgenstern’s In box.
- Maintain waiting room lighting and order. Restock business cards and organize magazines.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures proper authorization is done prior to patients’ procedure or visit .
- Travel to satellite offices when needed and perform duties required at that facility
- Communicate patient and in office surgery schedule daily with Patient Coordinator, Nurse and MA
