DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Preparing for patient session including reviewing previous notes/documents
  • Run skill acquisition programs (including Discrete Trial Instruction and Natural Environment Teaching).
  • Establishes & maintains therapeutic relationship by pairing self as a reinforcing entity and building the value for the client of social interaction with the ABA therapist
  • Prompts safe and socially acceptable replacement behaviors in order to build a repertoire of communication, social interaction, and problem solving skills
  • Fades prompts appropriately to promote both successful and independent responding
  • Increases the frequency or duration of safe and appropriate replacement behaviors by providing access to reinforcers (desired items/actions, attention, or removal of demands/aversive situations)
  • Accurately observe and collect behavior data including: A-B-C, count, frequency, duration, latency, inter-response time, event, and interval based recording
  • Follows the treatment plan goals and interventions utilizing sound judgment and seeks out appropriate consultation
  • Collaborates with family and treatment team members to provide treatment effectively and without disruption to the environment or other individuals in the environment
  • Educate parents on reinforcement and early intervention information
  • Educates all those involved about the role of ABA based interventions and the ABA therapist, and functions within boundaries of the ABA therapist role in providing treatment
  • Reassessment as appropriate
  • Complete end of session tasks not limited to, rendering time worked, completing ABA session documentation, proper clean up and care of program materials.
  • Attend and participate in company meetings, training, case reviews etc.
  • Learn to use assistive technology and other specialized equipment

This is a direct service position that works one-on-one with children who have special needs within the client home. ABA Therapists focus on increasing communication, social, and verbal behavior skills, as well as decreasing problem behavior, using the science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). This position reports to the Clinical and Administrative Leadership.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This is largely an active role. This would require the ability to bend, sit, lift, walk and engage with a child throughout the session. Lifting requirement range is 15-20 lbs. but may exceed 20 lbs. in some cases.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

Part time and full time positions are available. Part time positions are after the learners school hours between 4:00pm-8:30pm Monday through Friday and Saturday’s. Full time positions include morning, mid day and afternoon sessions Monday through Friday and Saturday’s. Sunday’s are available at the employee request. Business hours are Monday-Saturday 8:00am-8:30pm. Work schedule may vary depending on case and location.

PAY:

Pay is commensurate with credential level and experience, starting at $26/hour up to $30/hour.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in a social science;
  • 1 year experience applying ABA principles; working with children; RBT certification

Knowledge of:

  • Computer basics and characteristics of Autism Spectrum Disorders is preferred.

Ability to:

  • Follow ethical standards as set forth by the BACB
  • Exhibit patience when working with patience who have special needs problem behavior and seeing progress with behavioral interventions
  • Maintain records and documentation in accordance with ABA funding sources
  • Maintain confidentiality per HIPPA standards
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and leadership both orally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children, parents, coworkers, supervisors, and other professionals
